Polina Gordienko

Politikerin / Vertreterin „München ist bunt!“

Born in Siberia and raised in Minsk, Belarus, Polina experienced day-to-day restrictions of fundamental freedoms at a young age. After having discovered its opposite in Germany – a tolerant society based on the freedom of expression – Polina left her family and moved to Munich at the age of 15. Currently, she studies and teaches political philosophy at LMU. In Germany Polina started her political career, first at the European Youth Parliament and later in the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) as well as in the local association “München ist bunt!” (“Munich is colorful!”). The civil initiative advocates for more diversity in society and fights against racism, fascism as well as any kind of discrimination based on ethnicity, gender or religion. Polina is also the youngest candidate for the upcoming City Council elections in Munich.
